Mourning Brew

Mourning Brew is a 3D coffee simulator game run primarily on dialogue and minigames. Run your cafe by taking orders, making orders through minigames, then deliver and chat with your customers to learn more about them (and possibly yourself!).

I was a part of the writing and design team and the programming team. I also created a few concept art designs for the art team.

What Have I Learned?

Overall, I learned a lot more on the programming side. I hadn't done spawners before, and challenging myself to make it dynamic and dependent on parameters gave me experience to program modularly. I had a lot of trouble with colliders in Unity, and I fairly quickly learned the balance between functionality and player experience. Creating each of the characters and writing them showed me the links between a character's design and their story to tell. Planning the connections in the overall story also emphasized the importance of character arcs and creating diverse, intricate characters.
