CHIME

Chime is an isometric-style adventure game. Obtain items, fight enemies within a day and night cycle, and remake memories to restore a kingdom to its former glory.

I was a part of the writing and design team and the programming team. I also created a few character drafts and ideas for the art team.

What Have I Learned?

I've never worked on a game to this scale, so taking on different tasks and watching it all come together in different parts was amazing. I learned a lot about the different parts of a game, especially within programming. As a writer and designer, I've learned a lot about setting reasonable and attainable goals. We had to remove different parts of the game entirely simply because we were on a deadline. I've learned a lot about the Unity Engine as a whole, especially through the JSON save files and the lighting programming. I also learned a lot about Blender - I had never touched VFX before, and watching the scripting and baking made me more interested in 3D modeling. Creating character sheets also showed me how intricate and essential the arts are for game development.

DeLeonic awards are given by a game's team leads to members for their outstanding contributions. I am so thankful for receiving a DeLeonic from Chime this year, and I hope to continue contributing to the game development community!
